An introduction to visual impairment discusses the principle causes of sight loss in children, adults and the elderly and the associated symptoms in the initial and advanced stages. It discusses the problems people with a visual impairment experience even when visiting eye care practitioners and considers what reasonable adjustments should be made to better serve such patients. A unique perspective is provided by the presenter who is registered blind.

Daniel Williams, a man on a mission with low vision, Founder of Visualise Training and Consultancy gives a unique perspective to Optometrists and Opticians of how to enhance patient experience for patients with low vision. Daniel is a qualified Rehabilitation Assistant for people with a visual impairment and an Eye Clinic Liaison Officer and works UK wide to make services more inclusive for blind and partially sighted people. Daniel has being leading on a UK wide CET roadshow to empower eyecare professionals to support low vision patients effectively.
