Retinal Imaging: Assessing the retinal vasculature and layers

Retinal photography and OCT allows for non-invasive imaging of the retinal structures including its vasculature. Vessel changes due to systemic disease (acute and chronic) can impact on the ocular circulation and be observed directly. Visual grading however is highly variable and dependent on experience and education. Objective assessment allows better repeatability and long-term observation. We will review case records from practice to share current practice and review current guidelines.
