The lens and methods of improving sight post cataract surgery

11:00-12:00

Professor Barbara Pierscionek, Nottingham Trent University: 1 interactive CET Point

The physical properties of the lens, optical and biomechanical remain elusive for implant designs for whom the holy grail is an accommodative implant with the superior quality of the eye lens. Latest techniques have allowed fine optical measurements to be made that reveal feature in the lens material pertinent to optics and biomechanics. This presentation will describe the findings and their implications.

Learning Objectives

  • To learn the latest findings about the optics of the lens
  • To consider how new implant lenses may be developed for improved image quality and to advance personalised designs

This piece of CET is approved for Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians
